Pulmonology and Critical Care
Pulmonologists are internists who are specially trained to diagnose and treat pulmonary (lung) diseases and conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, COPD, cystic fibrosis, pleural effusion, lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, sinusitis, and tuberculosis. RDC’s pulmonologist is also board-certified in critical care, which involves even greater specialty training and certification. Critical Care physicians provide care for patients with acute, life-threatening illness or injury. Examples of critical illnesses include ARDS, heart attack, poisoning, pneumonia, surgical complications, and stroke. The majority of care provided by critical care physicians occurs in a hospital’s critical care/intensive care unit. Our Pulmonologist serves both as Rowan Regional Medical Center’s Respiratory Care and Critical Care director. He is available for office and hospital consultation through a physician referral.
